Protein Bars

Delicious, Tasty, Healthy Protein Bars.

Protein is a very improtant macro nutrient. We are basically made from protein and should have it with every meal. We need protein to feed our muscles, support our bones and maintain mobility.

As we age we lose muscle, after age 30 we begin to lose between 3% to 5% per decade.  Therefore it is vital we get enough protein daily to avoid sarcopenia which is a progressive loss of lean muscles as we get older.  We should aim for 1.2grams of proetin per kg of body weight daily.

These healthy tasty  bars are an ideal snack to have any time of day. They are full of protien and low in carbohydrates and sugar.

 

Ingredients

1/4 cup ground almonds

1/2 cup vanilla protein powder

1/3 cup of coconut flour or you can also use ground almonds

1/4 cup coconut sugar

1/4 cup nut butter of choice, almond, peanut or tahini

2 teaspoons vanilla

3-4 tablespoons almond milk

1/4 cup melted coconut oil

tablespoon of dark choc nibs.

 

Top

1 bar of dark chocolate

1 teaspoon coconut oil

 

Method

Mix all base ingredients in a bowl until sticky, and place in a lined tray and flatten.

Melt dark chocolate and coconut oil together and pour over base. Top with a little sea salt and place in freezer for 60mins.
